Hey awesome No Sham fans! I thought it would nice to talk about a very special someone in this blog post today. As many of you may know, I am the proud owner of a pet rock; his name is Sam. I adopted Sam from a construction site in Arkansas about 5 years ago. You may be wondering: what in the world brought me to Arkansas? Well, my assistant Hannah has a deep passion for all things construction. She just loves everything about it, from the big machines to the smells of drying cement. One day she heard about a big construction project happening in the capital city of Little Rock and she wanted to check it out. She invited me to come along, so we hopped on a plane made our way to Arkansas.
When we got to the site, I was appalled by all of the rocks scattered across the ground. It seemed like everywhere I looked there were dirty little rocks lying cold and helpless on the ground. My heart went out to them; no creature on earth deserves such cruel treatment. As I continued to scan the devastated area my eyes fell on one particular rock. I don’t know why, but I instantly felt a connection with it. It was if this beautiful little stone was looking into my very soul and crying out for deliverance. I reached down and picked him up, dusting off the filth as best I could. It was in that moment I realized this rock could be mine to care for and to cherish. As we left that construction site in Little Rock, Arkansas, I knew my life had changed forever. My assistant Hannah left the site with muddy clothes and a random screw as a souvenir, but I left with so much more. I now had a pet, a companion, whom I had the privilege to care for and to love. I can honestly say that Sam is my best friend, and underneath his stony exterior is a heart of pure gold. If any of you are looking for a forever friend, I would strongly urge you to consider adopting a rock. Believe me; it will truly change your life for the better. There are so many rocks in need of loving owners, and it is my life goal to see every palm-sized stone get adopted into family that will take care of them. If you want to help spread the word, consider donating to my Save the Rocks Foundation. Every penny helps, and I believe that together we can change the course of the future one rock at a time. Until next time, Be kind to your round, stony friends!!! -Andrea Handerson
